Let’s talk: Numbers

Hello everybody and welcome to another Let’s talk!

Today I’m writing about a theme, that probably a lot of you can relate to.

Numbers.

If you think about it, you will realize what a huge influence they have on you, your life, your behaving. They influence you too much.

They’re everywhere. In your school grades, your follower account, your likes, comments…

And in a way, they are important. They let us know a lot of facts, we use them to show us the amount of something, which isn’t a bad thing. Until you let them rule you.

I think we all compared each other already on the base of likes, follows, and those kinds of numbers. We felt bad, because apparently, someone else was better than we are, someone has a bigger number standing on their account. If you think about it properly, it’s ridiculous how a simple sign has the power to make you feel a certain way. This can be positive or negative, but it does influence your thinking and your feelings.

Some people like to brag with it, they let us know how great they think they are, because apparently, this sign proves it. It doesn’t.

What I want to say, is, that we shouldn’t let us rule by those “important” numbers. They can be important sometimes, but they shouldn’t have the power to change us in any way. Please think about that the next time, you feel bad about a grade, about your amount of likes or whatever other number.

It’s a number.

It doesn’t define how great you are as a person. It doesn’t define your qualities.

It is number. Don’t let a number define who you are.

What do you think? Let’s talk about it!

I’m out and about,

elena

  1. Really loved the post! Your post has a really deep meaning and I am happy to see that there are people like you who are not as blind to see that these things don’t define us in any way. It’s just how we look at it, and how others look at it. Thanks for sharing! xxx
